Monumentum
The Monumentum project is my first real foray into the incredible art of long-form storytelling. I have an intense admiration for compelling narratives and absolutely no experience writing them myself. These watercolors have been my attempt to arrive at some kind of story through trial and error. Inspired especially by the works and creative process of illustrator Shaun Tan, I wanted to reverse engineer something, to find inspiration through action and not the other way around. There is no concrete narrative to the images here, instead they serve as a documentation of my struggle to generate meaning out of lines and shapes, to try and make something from nothing.
