The Navajo Clan Identity Project is a cultural initiative dedicated to exploring and preserving the rich heritage of the Navajo people’s clan system. For this project I went to the Native American Student Affairs (NASA) located at the Nugent Building and asked 6 friends of mine what their Navajo clans are. I then translated their clans into English and started planning how to create each person a logo with their 4 clans integrated into it. Focused on documenting oral histories, visual representations, and the significance of clan affiliations, the project aims to strengthen community bonds, promote cultural resilience, and foster cross-cultural understanding. Through collaboration with Navajo Nation institutions and active community engagement at NASA, the project seeks to celebrate and share the unique cultural identity embedded in the Navajo clan traditions for each person.
