WELCOME TO THE WONDERLAND CAFE!

The Wonderland Cafe is a branding project with the purpose of creating a whimsical environment that honors classic fairy tales. The cafe brand is aimed towards young adults, while still remaining welcoming to families, since anything with fairy tales will attract children and their families. The concept was inspired by classic fairy tales that I was raised on, and still enjoy to this day. Including “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll, “Peter Pan” by J.M. Barrie, The Brothers Grimm fairytale collection, and Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale collection. Many of these classic fairy tales inspire a lot of my personal work for both illustration and design. The main inspiration for the overall theme of the Wonderland Cafe was pulled from “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” because of the whimsy and fun that is associated with that story. The main design inspirations came from Art Nouveau and vintage hand lettering. These inspirations are displayed in the use of the Cheshire cat in the icon, fun swirls and typefaces, a few of the items on the menu, and of course, the name of the cafe itself. References to other fairy tales are found mainly in the repeating pattern, and menu item names. I plan on adding onto this project in the future by creating an interior and exterior for the cafe. This would include decor, interior and exterior signage, and furniture choice.
