For my thesis I wanted to focus on my culture. As a proud member on the Pascua Yaqui Tribe here in Arizona, I want to be able to show myself and who I am as an indigenous woman. Being as it is male respected, I asked permission from my elders to grant me permission to take part in drawing and showing more Yaqui art.

Being able to show case my culture is a huge risk as it is sacred, and male oriented it is beyond me to show case these images and illustrate them. With all respect to my culture photographs will not be allowed of these illustrations.

These illustrations are done with paying respect to my culture and to steer away from the traditional aspect of the art to a more contemporary feel with it being more geared towards the younger audience to pursue the creative passion of traditional art.
